I dont think Jake is a lispy gay...i think hes extremely, wonderfully FLAMBOYANT but not lispy...i KNOW lispy gays and they are some annoying QUEENS!! I think I could listen to Jake Shears talk all night long about paint drying. :)
And yes I do think that the American public cannot or WILL NOT accept an openly gay band...AMERICANS are STUPID!! So yeah to answer your question I think they would be much bigger in America if it werent for that fact. BUT I love that they are not so big here...its like "MY LITTLE SECRET." So in AMerica we get intimate shows as opposed to arenas...we can actually meet them after their gigs and talk to them and if were lucky enough to catch them out, have a drink with them. I LOVE that no one else cares...if that makes sense.

I just discovered SS a few months ago and must say I love them. The first picture I saw of Jake was the one with Anderson, Amy and Anna L and thought Jake reminded me of a 1970's teen heart throb ala shaun Cassidy. lol
Since discovering them I have given copies of both CDs to family members who are now big fans. Our only problem is no one like SS or Anderson Cooper ever come to Michigan for concerts or book signings, no matter how much we beg or how many letters we write. Oh well there' always Chicago in March.
